When it comes to planning meetings or events, a common tactic is to assign this task to someone on the sales, marketing, or administrative team because it just involves making some calls and getting a few details in order, right?
Sure. In some cases.
One of the things that drives me every day is the opportunity to learn something new, see something differently, and be better today than I was yesterday. This quest to always be learning something new does not, however, mean that the basics can be ignored. No matter how many new skills we learn or how much we improve and expand our knowledge, a strong foundation is essential.
As a planner – whether full time, part time, or “just this time” – it is ultimately our responsibility and duty to keep it all “straight.” Right? After all, that’s usually the primary reason that we’ve been brought onboard!
